Every home handyman knows that any painting project needs proper preparation –
in fact it’s the key to a professional looking job.
To begin the process you need to make sure the walls are clean and smooth, free
of dirt, dust, nails and holes. Pull nails out of soft plaster walls with a
timber off cut then wash down with Sugar soap. It’s then you’ll clearly see all
the imperfections and cracks.
Polyfilla has a range of products to suit the smallest nail hole all the way up
to the largest crack in gyprock, concrete, even wood.
For small imperfections use Plaster cracks – just squeeze it into the holes and
then scrape it off, and it only takes about half and hour to dry. This product
doesn’t shrink or crack so you’re left with a surface that’s perfect for
painting.
For bigger holes Large Cracks filla is the way to go. Again, simply fill the
hole and feather the edges. Use a medium fine grade sandpaper to bring it back
to surface level and it’s ready to be painted.
