Amazing but true, you can cook the Christmas Dinner on the Barbeque! It just
takes a little planning but grilled seafood, roast turkey, barbeque pork and
even the pudding can all be cooked on the Barbie.
Seafood is so easy – prawns and bugs are becoming an Aussie tradition at
Christmas and really all you have to do is toss them on.
For the traditional Turkey you need to allow about 20-25 minutes for every 500
grams. You’ll need to be prepared because a 2 kilo turkey will take at least an
hour and a half. For pork allow 30 minutes as it really needs to be cooked
through. Rub the outside with oil and salt to give it a lovely crisp crackle!
And even vegetables such as corn, capsicum, potatoes and pumpkin can all be done
outside.
When it comes to desert simple fruit skewers consisting of peaches, mango,
pineapple, strawberries or whatever takes your fancy can be marinated in juice
and your favourite liqueur then barbequed lightly and served with cream or ice
cream.
