Aussie's are known to be an ingenious lot – we’ve invented the Hills Hoist and
the Victa Lawn Mower, and if haven’t actually invented the good old barbie, well
we’ve certainly perfected it!
And there are so many different ways to barbeque.
Many councils provide barbeque facilities, offering both the traditional wood
fired bbq’s or electric ones, which are simple and easy to use. But whatever one
you use always make sure you clean up so the hotplates are ready for the next
person. And it’s simple enough, just scrape them down and wipe over.
If you don’t have these facilities, you can always improvise. Use a couple of
bricks and some chicken wire, perfect for sausages or steak, or you can buy a
commercial rack for fish and simply hold it over the fire. Another great idea is
the disposable bbq which consists of a foil tray, heat beads and rack. When
you’ve finished cooking simply toss the lot in the nearest bin!
But if you are making a fire out in the open always check with the local council
about fire regulations and bans. And when leaving, make sure the site is
returned to its original condition too.
Remember though, if you can’t be at home, you can always get a great Aussie
grill at Sizzler.
