Bathrooms have become the new luxury room of the house. It’s a place to unwind, relax and get away, so it’s no wonder that Australians are expected to spend almost four billion dollars this year on building and renovating bathrooms alone!

There’s a huge range of colours, tiles, taps and fittings to choose from.

White walls are very popular as they go nicely with white basins and baths. Wide bands of different sized tiles are used as a feature, often in a colour that matches the floor tiles. Neutral colours like mushroom or chocolate are in right now.

Twin basins are a great idea if you have the space, however if space is an issue then frameless glass shower screens give you a more open feel. You can get a special protective coating on the glass that helps to reduce soap scum and grime too. And for the complete minimalist walk in showers with no doors are really popular.

But the main feature of every bathroom is of course the bath. Baths are also works of art – they can be free standing, or have clear glass sides which not only look great but they also hold less water.

Turning your bathroom into a luxurious haven doesn’t have to cost the earth, but combining energy efficient hot water systems and the latest in water technology will help you save the earth, and money as well.
