We all know how important it is for our health to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water each day. It's also important that it should be good quality water. Due to concerns about the quality of tap water many of us are now consuming bottled filtered water. This is not only very expensive but it may not actually be that much better for you. According to Australian Drinking Water Guidelines: Ideal drinking water should be clear, colourless and well aerated with no unpalatable taste or odour and must not contain suspended matter, organic substances or organisms harmful to human health.

There are more than 2,100 known contaminants that may be present in tap water, including several known poisons. These are not always effectively removed by Municipal water treatment facilities. In fact much of our water runs through aging pipes and is being treated with chemicals including chlorine – it often tastes and smells bad which makes water hard to drink.

The trend in drinking bottled water has been growing in Australia. The bottled water industry made up 13% of the national beverage market last year. Yet the quality of bottled water may not be any different to normal tap water. In fact some bottled water is very acidic, which is not great for our bodies–because ideally our drinking water should be slightly alkaline – just like in our cells and blood.

Also the environmental impact of single use plastic water bottles is fast becoming a big problem in Australia. According to Ian Kiernan founder of Clean Up Australia they are a "blatant environmental waste” not to mention they are also expensive! Even if you do refill your water bottle, over time harmful phthalates can be leached from the plastic into the water.

Bulk delivered water, which is cheaper to buy than bottled water, demands permanent storage space, a strong person on hand to replace the heavy bottles and delivery by diesel trucks. There is a more affordable and environmental agreeable solution to all these hassles.

The Nikken PiMag water system provides refreshing and natural living water in your own home or office without being ridiculously expensive. The system is easy to maintain and use – it has an upper and a lower tank. You simple pour tap water into the upper tank and let it pass through the four unique stages, and collect in the lower storage tank.

Ordinary tap water is transformed when it is put through the PiMag's unique filters. Firstly its ceramic filter sieves out extremely small particles, like soil, clay, metal flaking and other foreign materials. It also absorbs and stores energy from light and then returns it to the water in the form of far "infrared energy" to increase the bioavailability of the water.

Next the active carbon filter cartridge reduces chemical contaminants like chlorine and trihalomethane, and its ion exchange resin reduces heavy metals like lead and eliminates unpleasant odours. The final stage contains silver/copper impregnated zeolite to provide antibacterial action plus additional contaminant absorption.

In the lower tank the water is brought fully back to life. Mineral stones on the tank floor help balance the waters pH and supply extra minerals like calcium, magnesium, silicon, iron and phosphorous. This creates mildly alkaline water close to the pH level of our cells and blood. Also the lower tank has a cartridge of silver impregnated stones, which provide an anti-bacterial effect. Finally the water passes through a high strength Magnetic Tube, which breaks the H2O down into small clusters allowing for easy absorption in the body.

Nikken water systems are available as a bench top model and a standalone fountain. The water fountain provides both hot and cold water for your home or business. These systems provide refreshing life giving water unlike any other for as little as 86cents for 15 litres!
